Apply now#
Volunteering as a Helper is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of the Society for Green Microbiology Annual Meeting and gain insight into how the conference is run behind the scenes. You do not need prior experience of attending an Annual Meeting, and we especially encourage first-time participants in scientific conferences to apply. Helpers will join a supportive team, making it an excellent way to navigate your first international conference, develop skills, and build lasting networks.
About the Role#
Helpers will be required to attend the event in person for the full duration and support conference staff for approximately 50% of the meeting time (excluding social activities). A rota will be developed so you can attend sessions of interest and still present your own talk or poster if applicable. This is a unique opportunity to connect with fellow microbiologists and sustainability advocates from across the world.
Responsibilities and Fees#
- Support with registration, session logistics, and delegate queries.
- Ensure smooth running of events and uphold the welcoming spirit of the meeting.
- Volunteers will not be charged a participation fee.
Code of Conduct#
All volunteers must read and agree to the SGM 2025 Code of Conduct for Volunteers before applying. Tick and agree as instructed on the application form.
Who Can Apply#
We welcome applications from students, early-career researchers, and anyone passionate about microbiology and sustainability. Places are limited, and if demand is high, we may close applications early.
How to Apply#
If you are interested, please:
- Read the Code of Conduct.
- Complete the online application form, where you will confirm that you have read and agree to the Code of Conduct.
